Beaver Bridges planned, managed and monitored the works and subcontractors required for this project. We ensured that a construction phase plan was developed, outlining the key health and safety aspects of the project. This included ensuring suitable welfare facilities were provided and maintained throughout the project. Beaver Bridges kept the client up to date with any programme changes and sought approval where required.
As Prime Contractor, we had responsibility for ensuring that all workers had a site-specific induction. All workers had the specific skills, knowledge, experience and training to carry out the works or were engaged in obtaining them.
We stripped off the deck of the existing and set aside for re-use. The steel beams were removed and moved to a storage area. We then built up and installed the new unibridge, utilising the existing foundations and additional bearing position.
The Matiere Unibridge was excellent for this type of site, extremely robust and durable. The structures are calculated according to Eurocodes and British Standards. The structure can be used for temporary or permanent requirements – it’s a simple industrial system, strong, easily transportable, quickly assembled and is capable of loads in excess of 300 tonnes when used in a clear span configuration.
