Beaver Bridges were commissioned to provide our full turnkey solution for a client based in Newton Blossomville.
This project required all areas of service, including full bridge design, a check of the site and a build package that included foundations, site access, paths, fencing and gates. This full turnkey project also involved the safe removal of five bridges and two small pipe culverts along with approximately 130m of 1m wide concrete causeway up to 100mm thick. Planning permission and EA consent was sought and Topological Survey and Ground Investigations carried out. The site was near water and in close proximity to overhead power lines. A temporary aluminium roadway was laid on either side of the site. We installed 3nr replacement bridges, reinstated existing causeway and created a new widened causeway. The project involved careful management of stakeholders, Landowners, Parish Council, EA and the British Horse Society. The works were carried out in a safe manner and with minimum inconvenience to residents, businesses and to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The structures were craned into position using a 300t grove. The bridges were completed to be uniform in finish. A 36m, a 18.7m and a 5m structure all constructed in steel and timber, with a hardwood finish. All steelwork was coated with HA Type II Alternative Paint System, FSC hardwood all fixings galvanised.
Environmental and ecology factors were carefully managed throughout the duration of these works. This included the presence of otters, bats and newts, which had to be considered within our programme and dealt with in an appropriate manner.
For this full turnkey solution project, Beaver Bridges completed all work to the set criteria. Work was also completed on time and all tasks were performed safely.
