During completion of the work, access to the site was limited. In addition, works were carried out within a highly populated area, requiring extensive planning and management to ensure pedestrian safety at all times. The location was also subject to busy canal boat traffic, adding further areas of risk which were expertly managed by the Beaver Bridges team.
Negotiations were held with the Canals and River Trust and there was careful consideration and management of this project to ensure as little possible disruption or inconvenience was caused to local residents during completion of the footbridge. The site required vegetation clearance and we ensured that we handled the environment with great sensitivity.
To complete the installation, we carried out fully planned lifting operations. To complete this lift, we utilised a 500 tonnes crane situated on adjacent land, which overreached to the canal.
During installation, the footbridge was landed and joined to existing towpath seamlessly.
All works were carried out safely, efficiently, to the clients brief and delivered on time.
