We were contacted regarding our expert service for bridge removal, working Network Rail and Transport for London (TfL).
The removal was required following a newly refurbished station at Abbey Wood, which was to be run by TfL. The new station, upon completion, was opened to passengers using existing Southeastern services. The station also doubled up to serve the new Elizabeth Line (Crossrail).
Network Rail had expanded the railway through Abbey Wood from two to four tracks, completed the build of two new platforms and installed overhead line equipment (OLE) that was to be used by Elizabeth Line trains.
Beaver Bridges Ltd was contracted to remove and dispose of a temporary footbridge and staircase at the Abbey Wood station as part of the ongoing Crossrail works across London. The main scope of works included the safe removal and disposal of a 3 flight staircase, 16 metre span x 4.9 metre bridge and support trestles.
As contractor, Beaver Bridges provided a complete service with all lifts meticulously planned and executed safely and completed on time. The fully competent onsite Beaver Bridges team and crane crew ensured that all structures were removed in the most efficient, controlled way possible. The project involved the use of particularly challenging crane lifts, as a result of the site being in close proximity to the BT building.
All criteria were met, on time and performed safely.
