We were contacted by Slough Borough Council who required a newly designed and installed timber bridge. As part of the contract, Beaver Bridges provided the manufacture, foundations, delivery and installation of the new timber structure.
The requirement was for a 5m x 3m hardwood timber bridge with a 20kN/m2 loading, weighing 2800kg. The purpose of the bridge was to provide access predominantly to pedestrians, whilst also allowing for equestrian and small vehicle use. An all timber (hardwood) finish with galvanised fixings and anti-skid strips fitted to the deck completed the full structure.
In preparation for the installation, Beaver Bridges liaised with adjacent landowners and users of the nearby Salt Hill Activity Centre. This communication was vital to ensure the safe and meticulous planning of all vehicle movements on site during the installation.
Beaver Bridges prepared the site. The site also included trained plant operators and a banksman who controlled and guided all site plant and vehicles, including deliveries to site.
Thorough excavation was completed to the pre-determined level and checked with the client ahead of lifting the concrete blocks into the final position. The bridge was delivered in one piece, installed and fixed into position using a chemical anchors system.
