Scope of Work: Principal Inspections of Approach Bridge, Lower & Upper Ramps & North & South Tower
Beaver Bridges were awarded this project in November 2019 to inspect several structures at Berth 49 of Dublin Port, an Approach Bridge, the lower and north ramps, and the north and south towers. A 3-day Principal Inspection comprising of 10-hour shifts of the Roll on Roll off structure was undertaken by a Chartered Engineer and Engineer.
Access by MEWP and foot was required to assess the North Tower via port end and lower deck carriageway. Access by MEWP via lower deck carriageway and foot via ladders at the south elevation was used to assess the South Tower. The Upper Ramp was assessed using MEWP and foot via carriageway and walkways of upper and lower deck. The inspection of
the soffit level of the Lower Ramp was conducted by boat. Once all the structures had been inspected a report was compiled detailing all defects, which were analysed, rated, and categorised. The severity of the defects was summarised and quantified with details of the actions required to rectify.
