As part of the pedestrian bridge refurbishment, Beaver Bridges provided a site-specific risk assessment and method statement, a detailed programme of planned works, and final handover pack. We assumed responsibility for all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental issues on site and all financial aspects of this project on behalf of our client. We also ensured that all specialist works were carried out by trained operatives under the relevant Permits.
The programme of works involved the erection of bird cage scaffolding to enclose the entire structure. The existing timber deck was then removed, and the steel was shot blasted to base material, and cleats welded. A Type II Alternative Paint System (RAL9010) was applied before finally, the fitting of a new hardwood timber deck was completed. As shown in our images, once the work was completed, the scaffolding was removed to reveal the new fully refurbished pedestrian footbridge.
The client was delighted with the end result. The 30m x 1.5m structure was constructed completely from steel and with a painted finish and a timber non-slip deck. The timber deck is manufactured from Ekki hardwood, grooved and has 3 non-slip inserts.
