Beaver Bridges were contacted in relation to a requirement for a steel and timber replacement bridge at Abbotsbrook Estate.
Project works involved the replacement an existing bridge that had failed and become unsafe. When forming the footings for the steel and timber bridge, extra care was required when working around a number of buried services running along the line of the bridge. Some residents of the estate paddle canoes and other small watercraft on this brook and, as part of the brief, we had to ensure that the main span was high enough to allow craft to pass below – but low enough on the access ramps to avoid the need for steps.
The finished structure was a steel and timber pedestrian bridge with timber deck and non-slip inserts. The bridge has a 10m span and is 1m wide between the parapets.
The project was carried out safely and efficiently. We were proud of the work we completed and, as a result, the client was delighted with the finished structure. On the contract, the client commented;
