Beaver Bridges was appointed as Prime Contractor to provide a new pedestrian bridge in Scotland.
The full scope of this project was to provide design, supply, delivery and installation of a 40m steel truss pedestrian bridge at a site in Scotland. The new bridge was installed using MPB launch nose and launch adaptors. As Prime Contractor, Beaver Bridges held responsibility for planning, managing, monitoring, coordinating and controlling our works including health, safety and welfare on site in conjunction with the requirements of the CDM regulations 2015.
Beaver Bridges were selected to carry this out this project due our skill set and knowledge of pedestrian bridge launching. As a result of our reputation in Scotland, we have an established office in Dumfries & Galloway.
The close proximity of HV cables precluded a traditional heavy crane installation and so Beaver Bridges used the MPB as a launch nose and then designed and manufacture a special connector that bridges the gap between the truss and the MPB. This project typifies the innovative approach from the Beaver Bridges team.
In addition to the design and supply, we also needed to allow for time to plan for disruptions, re-working schedules because of weather delays, and vital contingency plans for any eventuality were essential. Daily preparation and verification of work permits, combined with rigorous compliance procedures and staff procedural training, resulted in Beaver Bridges meeting all project requirements
