Overview

Seamless Luxury Meets Engineering Excellence

Beaver Bridges has delivered a pioneering 33m steel-concrete composite vehicle bridge at Somerset’s award-winning Newt Luxury Estate, blending innovative engineering with the estate’s signature elegance. Commissioned by Emily Estates, this 3.65m-wide structure harmonises robust functionality with architectural finesse, connecting estate lands while complementing the World’s Best Boutique Hotel (2023) and Viper Aerial Walkway.

Fabricated in-house at Beaver Bridges’ Wigan facility, the bridge’s hybrid design merges steel strength with concrete durability, precision-engineered between September 2023 and January 2024. Advanced modular construction saw the bridge split into 12 sections, transported via the company’s dedicated haulage fleet, then seamlessly spliced on-site using a 75-tonne crane.

Innovation extended to aesthetic integration: architectural fin cladding panels—bolted to girders with millimeter accuracy—echo the estate’s refined aesthetic. GRP formwork panels, telehandler-lifted and fitted by skilled teams, ensured a flawless deck finish. The installation climaxed with a 600-tonne crane lifting the bridge onto 100-tonne jacks during a meticulously planned road closure, guided by real-time engineering checks to align with bespoke abutments.

Prioritising minimal disruption, the project employed full road closures only during critical lifts, followed by rapid reopening. The bridge’s design pays homage to the estate’s woodland and cyder orchard surroundings, mirroring the Viper Walkway’s sleek, modern lines.

This turnkey achievement underscores Beaver Bridges’ mastery of complex, high-spec projects—where cutting-edge materials, precision logistics, and artistic vision converge. The result: a resilient, visually stunning gateway that enhances connectivity for a world-class destination while preserving its idyllic charm.
