Beaver Bridges professional footbridge replacement service. We were appointed to remove an existing, redundant footbridge across a railway line in Oswestry. In addition to removing the existing structure, we were also tasked with installing a new 21.5m half through pedestrian footbridge.
The Structure
The 21.5m by 2m curved steel beam footbridge had a HA Type II paint system with a polyurethane resin anti-skid deck surface. The parapets measured 1.25m in height and consisted of 40 galvanised mesh panels with a pedestrian handrail.
The Project
This replacement project was a challenging one. A road closure and traffic management system were put in place whilst the existing redundant footbridge was removed in one piece using a 55t AC55 Road Rail Crane. Earlier enabling works freed the footbridge from its footings. The AC55 Road Rail Crane was again utilised to reinstate the footbridge replacement in one preassembled piece.
