Beaver Bridges were contracted to provide a bridge replacement for a client located in Thurrock.
The project included full bridge design, supply of the structure, delivery of the structure on site and successful installation. The finished replacement bridge was a new FRP pedestrian bridge, including the clearance of vegetation on site, which needed to be completed effectively whilst being sympathetic to the environment.
This innovative new bridge, which was installed at South Ockendon in Essex, is the first of its kind in Europe.
The new 16-metre-long bridge was manufactured from fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP), a plastic composite material. FRP was put in place across the Mar Dyke to replace a failed equestrian / pedestrian bridge.
The supplied bridge was delivered on site in one-piece and landed within a single day’s operation. The final project was completed safely, efficiently and within budget – much to the delight of our client.
