“Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those doing it.”
Beaver Bridges’ story starts in 1946, when Dick and Molly Beaver moved to a small holding in the foothills of the Long Mynd in South Shropshire. What began as subsistence farming evolved into practical problem-solving: repairing and repurposing bomb-damaged WWII buildings into working farm structures.
After the Foot and Mouth outbreak in the late 1960s ended the herd, the family made a deliberate pivot away from farming and into engineering-led enterprise. Over the following decades, the business expanded through plant and equipment trading, drainage and steel supply, demolition, and steel fabrication—building the capabilities that would later underpin a specialist contracting model.
In 2000, Henry Beaver joined full-time after university. Over the next 16 years, customer demand drove the fabrication of steel bridges for farmers across the UK—work that sparked Henry’s long-term focus on bridges and set the direction for the business.
In 2016, the family business de-merged and Beaver Bridges Ltd was formed. With six employees, a rented office and a single site van, the company gained momentum quickly and scaled at pace. Over the next decade, Henry and his wife Jo led the expansion into multiple bridge sectors, strengthened relationships across the industry, grew the team, and invested in manufacturing capability with the acquisition of a factory in Wigan.
In 2024, the business completed a management buy-out. Jo Beaver exited, leaving Henry and a committed Senior Leadership Team to accelerate growth and deliver the next phase of the company’s strategy.
From a six-person start-up to an award-winning bridge contractor, Beaver Bridges has built a legacy on turnkey solutions, national reach, and engineering excellence. We continue to grow, connect communities, and raise the bar for bridge infrastructure across the UK.
