Works involved removal of the existing pedestrian bridge between Platforms 1 and 2 at Paddington Station, the provision of a temporary pedestrian bridge solution and the supply and installation a new pedestrian bridge in keeping with the Grade II listed Paddington Station.
The replacement was a plate girder, steel transom and steel deck structure. It was crucial that the design and appearance was to exactly match the previous Victorian structure.
Works were carried out during a full blockade of all lines in and out of Paddington Station. Programme was critical with any slippage having serious financial and operational consequences for our Client and Network Rail.
Works were planned around a twelve hour shift pattern and were completed with one programmed shift remaining.
All criteria were met, on time and performed safely.
