Heston School
Beaver Bridges designed, manufactured, delivered and installed this bridge on foundations that were also installed by Beaver Bridges allowing the client, The Apollo Group, to have a single point of contact throughout the entire bridging process.
The Apollo group – working at Heston School, Hounslow, London needed a bridge to cross a main Thames Water fresh water pipeline. The easement could not be build upon and a bridge was needed to cross the easement and be such that it could be removed by Thames Water should the need arise.
Initially a concrete bridge was indicated but Beaver Bridges managed to provide a more cost effective solution in steel. The Bridge provided was an all steel construction, c/w 100mm vertical bars in the parapet – to comply with national guidelines – a non slip deck, a low height deck, internal ramps built into the bridge. The bridge also had end returns to prevent any potential sharp corners and a ‘toe’ to raise the bridge over the top of the pipeline.
Due to site requirements the bridge need to comply with Thames Water guidelines but also needed to be kept as low as possible to aide the ground works team. Beaver Bridges designed in the features listed above to aide in this process.
Beaver Bridges carried out all the foundation installation within 3 days and the bridge was fully installed and ready to use within 4 hours of the truck and crane arriving on site.
