Westshield Construction
Westshield contacted us in December 2007 enquiring about a temporary bridge for a construction site near Blackpool, Lancashire. The lead time we were given was minimal and the bridge specifications as follows:
• 31.5m clear span x 4.2m internal width
• 70 tonne deck capacity
• Fully modular bridge
Westshield were working on behalf of United Utilities for Severn Trent Water and needed this substantial bridge in order to gain access to site to build a new sewage treatment plant. The access to site was restricted due to the close proximity of a river and a nearby village.
Beaver Bridges were approached to supply this bridge complete with erection and dismantling. We were under pressure to source this bridge within the very short lead time and to spec. With a lot of hard work and in close liaison with our customer we were successful and apart from a couple of delays due to archaeological digs the bridge was erected on time, on budget and will be in use until May 2010.
